Esmeralda County Repository Oversight Program

If highway and/or rail transportation routes for high-level nuclear waste pass through Esmeralda County then there may be a variety of effects on the population. There may be an outflow of residents and reduction in levels of retiree inmigration due to stigmatization. A large number of residents within the County are retirees who are attracted to a perceived higher quality of life offered by the area. However, there may be an inflow of workers and their dependents due to jobs created as a result of high-level nuclear waste transportation.
