LLNL's Yucca Mountain Program (YMP) team is primarily working in the following areas:

The Large Block Test (LBT), used by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory used a series of tests conducted on a heavily instrumented, room-size block of rock adjacent to the proposed Yucca Mountain site. These tests were to enhance understanding of how thermal loading will affect the coupled thermal-mechanical-hydrological-chemical (TMHC) processes in the near-field environment (NFE).
